The Greenstone or Pounamu which this piece has been carved from comes from the West Coast of the South Island NZ. Within New Zealand we more commonly refer to Jade as Pounamu or Greenstone, however Pounamu also includes Serpentine, Semi Nephite Jades and Tangiwai also known as Bowenite.
Pounamu or Greenstone is regarded as a stone sacred to the Maori of New Zealand. As a Taonga -meaning treasured, and it should be worn with respect and pride.
Metaphysically Serpentine aids in meditation and spiritual exploration. Clears the chakras and opens the crown, creating balance and a sense of control over one's life. Helps to direct healing energy to problem areas.
