Hei Tiki is a symbol of fertility and good luck. It is also said to bring the wearer strength of character, allowing one to be loyal, clear headed and perceptive. The Tiki will often be depicted with its tongue poking out for protection.

The Jade or Pounamu which this piece has been carved from comes from the West Coast of the South Island NZ. Within New Zealand we more commonly refer to Jade as Pounamu or Greenstone, however Pounamu also includes Serpentine, Semi Nephite Jades and Tangiwai also known as Bowenite.
Pounamu or Greenstone is regarded as a stone sacred to the Maori of New Zealand. As a Taonga -meaning treasured, and it should be worn with respect and pride.
Metaphysically it is believed to be a stone of abundance, good health, love and brings luck. It has a lovely calming vibration.
